Roberto Guerrero, Sensei
Sensei Roberto Guerrero is a 6th Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate-Do. He began his training in 1973 in his home town in Zamora, Michoacan, Mexico under the instruction of Sifu Juan Villalobos Trujillo 7th Dan. Under Sifu Villalobos he studied Chinese Pakua. Sensei Guerrero's Martial Arts lineage is as follows: Juan Villalobos Trujillo, Sifu-7th Dan, Ronald L. Rogers, Hanshi & Kenneth J.Baker,Hanshi. Sensei Guerrero was a high school teacher while still in Zamora, Michoacan, Mexico. In addition to teaching, he worked as a counselor in drug prevention and gang prevention. He also provided an after school Karate program designed to keep kids off the streets.
Sensei earned his 1st Dan Black Belt in Shotokan in 2000. Additionally, he has a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Shin Nagari Karate and a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Okinawan Weapons. He opened Guerrero's Shotokan Karate on January 6, 2006. At that time, he started working at Operation Breakthrough, at St. Vincent De Paul where he taught inner city children drug prevention and family values. He earned his 6th Dan Black Belt in 2020. Sensei and his staff of Black Belt Martial Artists are committed to working with the community to teach Martial Arts, family values, self esteem and in building character in the individual. Sensei Guerrero is able to relate to students of all ages and all abilities and is a superlative instructor. He has a tremendous gift in teaching Karate to the disabled.
Julie Haskins,
Sensei
Julie Haskins started studying Aikido and Shotokan Karate at the age of 49 years old. At 53 years old, she earned her Black Belt in Shotokan Karate and at 55 years old she earned her Second Degree Black Belt and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Aikido. Recently, she was promoted to a 4th Degree Black Belt in Shotokan and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Aikido. She was promoted to Renshi shortly after receiving her 4th Degree Black Belt in Shotokan.She holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in Okinawan weapons. Sensei Haskins is the Instructor for the Aikido program and for the Lil' Dragons program. Her other roles in the dojo are: to assist with Marketing, Public Speaking for Karate demonstrations and Self Defense classes. She also fulfills the responsibility of Office Manager. Her goal is to show people, in general, that you are never too old to start training. Sensei Haskins was a Registered Nurse for 40 years and recently Retired.
Jimmy Gross
Sensei
Sensei Jimmy Gross is a 7th Dan Black Belt,, Kyoshi in Okinawan weapons, 7th Dan in Hawaiian Kenpo, 2nd Dan in Shotokan and 7th Dan in Jujitsu under the instruction of Hanshi Dan Kennedy, 10th Dan. He teaches monthly at Guerrero's Shotokan. Sensei Gross is not only a marvelous Martial Artist, but also has an effective teaching style. He understands how to instruct students at any level, and he has an incredible knowledge of many Martial Arts.
